MORE THAN 170 NATIONS SET TO COMPETE AT BUENOS AIRES 2018 YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES
The countdown shows that less than a week is left before the
Buenos Aires 2018 opening ceremony is held on
October 6. The following day the action will start with the Y
outh Olympic Parkas the heart of the competitions.
The two athletics tracks by MONDO will host young athletes from 179 countries from October 11 to 16. As per today the main track has the numbers painted on for the eight lanes, while the other one will be used for the throwing competitions and is almost ready for action.
Athletes will compete in the main stadium on
MONDOTRACK WS while for the training area the municipality has chosen
SPORTFLEX SUPER X 720.
As with the previous two editions of the Games,
there will be two stages to each of the 36 medal disciplines for athletics, but this year the format has changed so that the performances from both stages will be added together to determine the overall final placement.
The
mixed relay, which was introduced in 2014,
has been innovatively modified for this year's Games. Four years ago, the exhibition 8x100m event was staged just for track and field athletes, but this year it has been opened up to all sports – so, for example, track and field athletes will feature on teams alongside participants from the 32 other sports taking place in Buenos Aires.
MONDO will suply both at the main stadium and at the training area his
athletic equipment.
