The tournament in Finland is the first official event of the World Padel Tour in Finland, the northernmost official tournament in the history of the sport, and was held in the Nokia PadelOne Arena, a stadium built specifically for padel competitions.
Finland shows a strong love for padel, ranking ninth in the global ranking of countries with the most padel courts, according to the 'Global Padel Report 2023' study by Playtomic and Monitor Deloitte. It is estimated that over 55,000 Finns play padel. The expansion of the sport is not an isolated phenomenon, but also extends to other Nordic countries such as Sweden and Norway.
Mondo has also supplied the Billebeino club in Helsinki with six courts equipped with SUPERCOURT® XN turf.
Supercourt® XN is an innovative artificial turf that fuses two types of textured filaments, STX and XNOVA, in order to guarantee players optimal playing speed and maximum spatial memory of the pitch. Reduced friction levels, both linear and rotational, provide players with greater agility in their movements, while ensuring maximum consistency in the ball's angular and vertical bounce values. The textured filaments fully enclose the sand in the ground, increasing the resistance of the fibres to wear and tear.
