BREAKDANCING MOVES FROM THE STREETS TO THE OLYMPICS ON MONDO SPORT FLOORING!
In 2018, breakdancing is getting a new spin! The dance style, which originated among Latino and African-American inner-city youth in New York City, and became a signature element of hip-hop culture, has become an Olympic sport. For the
2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Buenos Aires, October 6-18,
MONDO will provide two stages on which young dancers from all over the world will compete in front of judges as they show off their best
toprocks, downrocks, power moves and freezes.
The venues dedicated to this sport will be at the Youth Olympic Park. Located in the southern area of the city in the front of the Olympic Village, the park will combine 12 sport competitions with artistic and cultural activities. Its concept is cultural diversity, and it will be a meeting place for athletes and the local community.
MONDO developed the flooring system in cooperation with the World DanceSport Federation. In June, the WDSF tested the MONDO floor and confirmed that it conformed to athletes’ expectations and met breakdancing competition needs.
