EUROPEAN ATHLETICS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS – GLASGOW 2019: 15 DAYS TO GO!
Today marks 15 days to go until the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships take place in the Emirates Arena from 1-3 March.
More than 600 athletes from the
50 European Athletics Member Federation countries will participate in the three-day event in Glasgow, making it one of the biggest sporting events ever to be held in this city.
The Emirates Arena boasts a state-of-the-art
VARIABLE BANKING HYDRAULIC TRACK installed in 2012 by Mondo.
Mondo was the first to produce a hydraulic banked track. This unique system was installed for the first time in 1987 at the National Institute for Fitness and Sport in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is now used at training and high-level competition centers world wide, as will be the case for the forthcoming
European Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
What makes Mondo’s hydraulic tracks unique is that they are controlled using an innovative PLC (Programmable Logic Control) system for ease of use and optimal curve progression at every incline. When required for competition or training, the track bends can be conveniently
raised to the required height in a matter of minutes, at the push of a button. The latest version of these tracks can be set at
any intermediate position between flat and fully raised, so it can be used for a
wide range of training activities and by
athletes with different abilities, from younger or slower to world-record holders.
A very important advantage of the hydraulic track system is that the hall can be returned to a flat floor of 5000 sqm in minutes to be used for other sport and non-sport events.
