The world's U20 athletes are taking their deserved rest after the World Athletics U20 Championships Cali 22 that have been held in Cali from August 1 to 6, 2022.

More than 1,500 athletes from 175 countries were present in Cali to fill the stands of the Pascual Guerrero stadium that boast a MONDO athletics track.
The Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium has witnessed countless national and international sporting events since 20 July 1937, when it was inaugurated following the donation of land from poet Pascual Guerrero. Since its initial construction, it has undergone major renovations that have made it one of the most complete and modern sports centers in Latin America, which is why the term 'Sports Capital of America' was coined for the city.
In 2021 the athletics track of the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium was rated Class 1 Sport Facility, with the quality of its track and facilities suitable for world-class competitions.
To date, the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium has hosted many athletics events such as the Junior Pan American Games in 2021 and IAAF World Youth Championships 2015 where 4 U18 Championships records were set on the MONDO athletics track (100m and 200m, by Candace Hill; 400m Hurdles by Sydney McLaughlin; Heptathlon by Geraldine Ruckstuhl).
The past edition of the World Athletics U20 Championships was held in Nairobi on the MONDO athletics track of the Moi International Sports Centre. At that time Nairobi has earned its place in the history books with four world U20 records, 15 championships records, 11 area U20 records, 68 national U20 records and 10 national senior records.

During the event athletes performed at their best but one of the amazing performances was set by Letsile Tebogo of Botswana, who broke the men’s U20 100m world record he set at the world championships last month, running a blazing 9.91 on the Mondo surface in Cali!
